Introducing Google Drive to grades 2 & 3

You have all started typing your writing on Micro Soft word documents.  Today, you are going to learn about another place to type your writing and stories:  Google Drive!

1.  Follow the directions below to create a document and complete the writing assignment.

2.  Click on the sign in button on the top right side of screen.  it looks like this:






3.  Type in your Username and password in the box that looks like this:

Your username and password are on the inside of your NEW Tech folder








4.  Click on New to create a new document.









5.  Title your Document:  Winter
6.  Now write 3 sentences describing what you like to do in the winter. 
7.  Write one question about winter that a classmate can answer.
8.  CHECK SPELLING, CAPITALIZATION AND PUNCTUATION!  You are all done!
Congratulations!  You have created your first Google Document!

Thinglink on New Hampshire History-Interesting Facts and Information

You have been researching New Hampshire history.  We are going to create a Thinglink using the information you have learned. 
For your submission to the Thinglink you will need:
1.  A picture of your topic
2.  a website or video related to your topic
3.  1-2 facts that you learned about your topic

Then you will need to organize this information.

You are going to join Google Classroom.  
1.  Log in to your barnardschool.org account
2.  Click here to go to Google Classroom
3.  Join the Technology Classroom- The class code is: jbpmkd
4.  You may use the Google Document in Google Classroom to complete the assignment.

Using InstaGrok for research










Today you are going to learn how to use InstaGrok to complete your research for your informational essays on New Hampshire.

FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW--
1.  Log in to your barnardschool.org account in Google
2.  Click here to go to Instagrok 
3.  Click log in with gmail (see illustration below)












4.  Type in your research topic in search bar



5.  Review search results.  Start your research.
REMEMBER--put the information IN YOUR OWN WORDS!!! If you want to use the exact words from a site, put them in QUOTATION MARKS and give credit to your source.
6.  Use the journal feature to take notes (you need to be logged in to save your work!)
